Sterilex Products are designed to disinfect, decontaminate, and remove a broad range of
biological and chemical agents. In fact, the Company's technology was initially developed
under U.S. military contracts with the goal of creating an improved universal decontaminating system
for biological and chemical agents. One of the differentiating features of Sterilex products is this
multi-functionality, with broad spectrum antimicrobial efficacy; efficacy in penetrating and removing
microbial biofilms and organic soils; and decontamination efficacy against organophosphorus and carbamate
pesticides, and nerve agents.
Sterilex developed and patented a novel decontamination technology with phase-transfer activity that has
the unique ability to penetrate both aqueous and non-aqueous phases, and is therefore extremely effective
in removing biofilms and organic soils; decontaminating adherent biological and chemical contamination; and
killing microorganisms. Sterilex technology is based upon alkaline peroxide and phase-transfer chemistry which
is amphiphilic, which can penetrate both aqueous and lipid phases, including paint.
Sterilex products are effective against all toxic chemicals susceptible to
hydrolytic attack, such as the anticholinesteratic
carbamates, organophosphorus pesticides, nerve agents, arsenicals, and chlorine gas. Sterilex technology is rapidly effective
against the nerve agents (VX and GB). The Sterilex system also has efficacy against the blistering agents (e.g. mustard) at
a higher concentration and longer exposure time.
Sterilex products have been used in the Hurricane Katrina clean-up, and have been shown to be successful in decontaminating
and removing chemical pesticides. Sterilex products have been effectively used in southern Louisiana for decontamination and
removal of Carbofuran & Carbosulfan (two carbamates) and Cadusafos (an organophosphorus pesticide). Sterilex products were
shown to reduce the level of chemical pesticide residue to below detection within 15 minutes. Advantages over traditional methods
of cleanup include superior decontamination efficacy, improved worker safety, significant cost-savings, and ease-of-use.
Sterilex products are effective against:
- Mold and Mildew
- Biological and Chemical Contamination
- Pesticides
- Nerve Agents
- Biofilm Bacteria
