AREA OF CONCERN: HIGH COUNTS IN DRAINS IN BAKERY
Sterilex was contacted by a large bakery to recommend an enhanced drain sanitation program for the facility.
The standard operating procedure for drain sanitation at the plant involved scrubbing each drain nightly with a chlorinated alkaline cleaner and quat sanitizer. Drains still turned up positive for various pathogens during swab tests.
Sterilex proposed the following actions:
- Utilize the Sterilex drain sanitation program weekly by using Sterilex Ultra Kleen Solutions 1 & 2 in a 15 gallon air operated tank foamer with 12” drain foam attachment. Take 30 seconds to pump Sterilex foam into the drain and several feet into the drain line.
- Use the drain stopper to fill up the trunk line with foam on a monthly basis.
Results after one treatment showed dramatic improvement:
- Program was such a success that three sister plants adopted the drain program as well as an environmental sanitation program with Sterilex technology.
