Reducing Environmental Counts at Pre-Cooked Bacon RTE Plant

AREA OF CONCERN: PRE-COOKED BACON RTE PLANT WITH HIGH ENVIRONMENTAL COUNTS

ISSUE

Sterilex was contacted by a large RTE pre-cooked bacon manufacturer with high environmental presumptive positives.

BACKGROUND

Large, multi-story, old facility could not utilize doorway foamers in the plant due to leaking down to lower levels. Very old facility with hygienic design challenges prone to environmental positives on floor and drains.

RECOMMENDATION

Sterilex proposed the following actions:

  • Start with a 5 day consecutive shock treatment of Sterilex Ultra Disinfectant Cleaner/Activator at a 1:1:10 concentration. Product to be applied to all food contact surfaces, environmental surfaces and drains.
  • Following the initial shock treatment, apply the Sterilex solutions on a 3X/week basis ongoing.
  • Broadcast Sterilex Ultra Powder solid floor sanitizer on the floor and in drains throughout the facility.

RESULTS

“Since we started using the Sterilex products, we have seen almost no positive hits. Our current average is one positive per 300 swabs, which is consistent with the percentage of false positives we would normally see. We have been very happy.”
