Treatment Value

Sterilex Ultra CIP (Solution 1) and Sterilex Ultra Activator Solution (Solution 2) function as a hard surface disinfectant and biofilm remover. A defoamer formulated into Sterilex Ultra CIP allows the chemistry to be used in CIP systems.

Shock Treatment (Initial Treatment)

When beginning use of a Sterilex CIP program, it is important to implement a shock protocol before backing off to maintenance treatments. A shock treatment should also be used whenever a plant has an increase in counts, a new “hot spot” or experiences a sudden decrease in product shelf-life.

A shock treatment with Solution 1 and Solution 2 involves 3-5 consecutive treatments at a 1:1:10 ratio.

Maintenance Treatment (Weekly)

Following a successful shock treatment, plants can begin to experiment with use frequencies while conducting environmental monitoring in order to determine the proper use protocol.

For best results, the Sterilex CIP solution should be used at least 1x/week with environmental monitoring.

Use Protocol

A Sterilex CIP solution consists of Solution 1, Solution 2, and water at a 1:1:10 ratio. This calculates to 12.8 fl oz of Solution 1 and 12.8 fl oz of Solution 2 per gallon of water.

1. Complete caustic/acid washes and rinses prior to circulating the Sterilex solutions through the system.
2. For a 200-gallon CIP treatment:
   • Add 20 gallons of Solution 1 and 20 gallons of Solution 2 to a 200 gallon system that maintains water temperature between 60-100°F
   • If possible, mix the solution together prior to circulation
3. Circulate solution for a minimum of 10 minutes, preferably 20-30 minutes
4. Thoroughly rinse system with water
5. If using as part of a shock treatment, repeat steps 2-4 up to 5 times
6. Use Quat test strips to verify thorough rinsing from the system
