Frequently Asked Questions

Is FortiSolve EPA-registered?

Yes, FortiSolve is the only product on the market specifically tailored to sanitize, disinfect and remove biofilm in animal drinking lines.

What does it mean to be an EPA-registered product?

Products must be EPA registered if they claim or imply efficacy against pathogens. EPA-registered products are proven to kill bacteria and inactivate viruses listed on the label and can be trusted to perform if used according to the label.

What is the difference between biofilm removal and biofilm kill?

Both biofilm removal and biofilm kill are EPA-regulated terms. The biofilm kill claim only refers to the control of bacteria within a biofilm. This claim only applies to the specific organisms on a product individual label. The biofilm removal claim applies to the removal of biofilm structure from hard surfaces. FortiSolve has both biofilm removal and biofilm kill claims and is the only product on the market with biofilm removal claims for animal drinking lines.

How can I tell if FortiSolve has charged the line and verify proper flushing?

FortiSolve’s distinct red dye aids in proper product application and flushing. A quat strip can also be used to test water if necessary, as a final check.

Why is it a two-part product?

FortiSolve’s superior formulation as a two-part product allows efficacy against pathogens utilizing lower levels of active ingredients.

Is FortiSolve equipment friendly?

FortiSolve is compatible with materials commonly used in waterlines. Its unique formulation prevents plugging of lines and nipple drinkers.

Is FortiSolve flammable?

FortiSolve is non-flammable. There is a lower risk associated with warehousing and transportation when compared to leading competitive products.

Does FortiSolve reduce residue?

FortiSolve removes organics, slime and scale associated with biofilms.

What is the product pH in Solution?

When mixed, FortiSolve's pH is between 10.4–10.6. Its high buffering capacity allows efficacy in a wider range of water quality and pH values on farm.

Is FortiSolve 100 and FortiSolve 200 hard to mix?

Not at all. It is extremely easy to mix FortiSolve 100 and FortiSolve 200 as a 1:1 solution into a clean mixing station.

How do I know how much FortiSolve to use?

We created a Sterilex waterline calculator to do the math for you. We can also create custom protocols for your facility.

Can FortiSolve be used as an on-bird water sanitizer?

No. FortiSolve is a two-part terminal waterline disinfectant to be used between flocks for total line disinfection.

Do I need to run an acid descaler between every flock?

Descaling is not an EPA-regulated marketing claim. FortiSolve removes scale minerals that may be harbored within biofilms. If you are experiencing significant mineral build-up in your waterlines, we recommend using a descaler or acid in rotation once or twice a year. PAA between every flock can be damaging to equipment and is more dangerous to workers.

Can I fog FortiSolve?

Yes, FortiSolve can be fogged to supplement your sanitation program by treating large barns, farrowing rooms, hatcheries and other enclosed facilities.
